Transmission Repairs

CALL US : 843-905-2441
The transmission does what its name implies. It transmits engine power to the wheels. Like all moving parts, it needs constant maintenance to maintain peak operating performance. A malfunctioning transmission will leave your machinery crippled. You will need to fix it.
Picture
We offer repair services so that breakdowns can be dealt with as quickly as possible.  We repair all kinds of transmissions:

  • Manual transmissions
  • Automatic transmissions
  • Semi-automatic transmissions
  • Continuous variable transmissions (CVT)
  • Direct-shift gearboxes (DSG)
  • Tiptronic gearboxes
Because of its role in ensuring the right amount of power gets to the wheels, an unrepaired transmission system that is malfunctioning needs to be repaired as soon as possible for your machinery to function.

Otherwise, you will find yourself unable to reverse, drive uphill, or even reach high speeds.

Transmission systems can have a lot of parts. An automatic transmission system, for example, has:

  • Pumps
  • Bands and clutches
  • Planetary gear sets
  • Torque converters
  • Sensors
  • Transmission fluid
  • Valve bodies.

All these parts require constant maintenance and repair in the event of a breakdown.

Pump

The pump pumps transmission fluid into the system. It also pressurizes it

Valve Body

The pressure of transmission fluid determines the opening and closing of valves. Valves funnel transmission fluid to clutches and bands, greatly easing their operation.

Clutches & Bands

The loosening and tightening of clutches and bands is important in gear operations. Engagement and disengagement would be a lot harder without them.

Torque Converter

The torque converter is the clutch of an automatic transmission gearbox. Power from the engine doesn’t directly rotate the wheels.

If that were the case, every time the engine was turned on, a vehicle would start moving. But that isn’t what happens. You can start the engine and keep it running while the vehicle is completely stationary.

This is because this power has to go through the transmission system. The torque converter is the “switch” that connects the engine to the wheels.

If it malfunctions, you’re in trouble. Either your vehicle starts rolling down the road the minute you start the engine or it completely fails to move even when the engine is running. None of these situations is desirable.

Transmission Fluid (ATF)

Automatic Transmission Fluid doesn’t just transfer power through your gearbox. It cools down the components, lubricates them, and prevents corrosion.

To prevent gearbox problems you need to frequently check your ATF. Top it up when it runs low and replace it at regular intervals.

Planetary Gear Set

The planetary gear set is the series of interconnected gears that determines your machinery’s gear ratio. The motion of these gears is transmitted to the driveshaft.
